The dangers of spring break...
Since I'm not going anywhere interesting during this break I figured I'd talk about all the bad things that occur in sunny, beautiful Cancun (and other spring break vacation favorites). The Trauma Foundation provides all kinds of distrubing stats about the problems that happen while on spring break. These facts range from alcohol to sex to drugs. Did you go to cancun? Are you a statistic?
* The average man reported drinking 18 drinks per day ;
* The average woman reported drinking 10 drinks per day (May 1998 Journal of American College Health.)
* Of the 442 women and 341 men that were surveyed, more than 50 percent of all men and more than 40 percent of all women drank until they became sick or passed out at least once.
* 40% of the men and 33% or the women reported being drunk daily. (Smeaton)
* 49.7% engaged in unplanned sex
* 52.3% engaged in unprotected sex
* 58.4% had trouble with the police
* 58.9% were injured.

wow, the stats. are pretty scary for sure!
Oh yea, thats horrible. Tons of drunken coeds having sex and partying...man, I'm glad I didn't go on spring break....
I witnessed first hand what SB does to students, not pretty. Let's just say I know quite a few people who will be at the Health Center this coming Monday...
I just got back from spring break in acapulco mexico and I can honestly say those stats are pretty much true. Tequila shots started at 11am and open bar went til 5 the next morning. The big thing about drinkin so much is to pace yourself and throw some naps/passing out in between. Spring break is great but now I need a week off to recover.
Yeah...Spring break at MBNA was wicked. It's enough to kill someone! Ok so I obviously didn't go anywhere but to work all week. I bet there's stats out there about how workin 8-5 can be dangerous. I was in Cancun one Spring Break...and I have to say those stats are the scary truth
