'The Amazing Race' is traveling on the fast track for a prize. I will admit, I have become obssessed with this reality show. It is a great opportunity to see a glimpse at another country and the good-hearted people that live there. Traveling like this would be an incredible opportunity but A LOT of work/stress. This would be a test for the ultimate traveler!! Where can I sign up??

One of my friends (also a business major) got offered a job for when she graduates...congratulations!!! One of the conditions though is that they need her to travel to China for 2-3 wks...LUCKY! I would love to spend a couple of weeks in a foreign company and be paid to do it. Maybe she can gets some tips from this China Travel Guide. Congrats, good luck, and be sure to send us a postcard telling us all about China!!

Road trips aren't out of the question....

Although gas prices are becoming outrageous, road trips aren't out of the question. Just do like everyone else! Take the bus...or any other form of public transit. Carpooling is always great too...you can split the cost among the group. Don't get discouraged, just get creative!

The dangers of spring break...

Since I'm not going anywhere interesting during this break I figured I'd talk about all the bad things that occur in sunny, beautiful Cancun (and other spring break vacation favorites). The Trauma Foundation provides all kinds of distrubing stats about the problems that happen while on spring break. These facts range from alcohol to sex to drugs. Did you go to cancun? Are you a statistic?

* The average man reported drinking 18 drinks per day ;
* The average woman reported drinking 10 drinks per day (May 1998 Journal of American College Health.)
* Of the 442 women and 341 men that were surveyed, more than 50 percent of all men and more than 40 percent of all women drank until they became sick or passed out at least once.
* 40% of the men and 33% or the women reported being drunk daily. (Smeaton)
* 49.7% engaged in unplanned sex
* 52.3% engaged in unprotected sex
* 58.4% had trouble with the police
* 58.9% were injured.

MTV's Spring Break

Ok, so it's that time again for those inevitable days when MTV plays nothing but Spring Break coverage. The same shows over and over again all weekend long. Now don't get wrong, I don't watch MTV all that often. They have their occasional good shows but it drives me insane when you can't turn it on without seeing the same thing you saw a couple of hours ago when channel surfing. And as if that weren't bad enough, the shows are ridiculously stupid. Maybe I'm getting older but come on!!! It's the same every episode, every year....beautiful ppl shaking their butts and making fools of themselves for cash, prizes, and their 5 minutes of fame. I really want to know who thought that watching ppl that look that good enjoying themselves on a warm beach while the viewer sits at home would really be an enjoyable show. Cause i just find it annoying!!

And the countdown begins...only 11 more days til Spring Break! So who has plans? Anyone going anywhere exciting? Unfortunately, for those of us staying in DE it doesn't look like we'll have a warm vacation. :( Although it may not feel like spring, March 20th is officially the first day. You know what that means? It means Rita's water ice is opening for the summer, AND if you visit on March 20th they will give you a free small water ice just because it is the first day of Spring. Hopefully the weather will be warm enough to enjoy it. Either way, I'll be there getting my free water ice! How 'bout you!?!?

It talks about how cruise prices are climbing as the industry rebounds from the Sept. 11 terriost attacks, but despite higher prices people are still paying. While there are other options, like cruisequick.com , researchers say the best bet is to check with the cruise line first.
